We leave Heraklion in the early morning, we make a quick stop at the Monastery of St George to take in the beauty of the beautiful plants and flowers along the monastery.
We then continue our drive through the breathtaking scenery sea on one side mountains on the other, olive trees all around to the Byzantine church of Panagia Kera Kritsa and then to one of the oldest and picturesque villages in Crete Kritsa at an altitude of 375m on the side of the mountain Kritsa is known for keeping the old traditions and customs alive.
We then drive along the beach road to Plaka where you can take the boat across to Spinalonga the island which was the fort during the Minoan time and then became the home of the people with lepra.
On the way back a quick stop in Elounda for a coffee or a walk around the picturesque Port. For an unforgettable lunch we drive to the lake of Agios Nikolaos then you can walk around admiring the beauty.
On the drive back to Heraklion if you are up to a small hike to the cave of Milatos hidden up in the mountains.
